Rube Goldberg For genius hour I made a Rube Goldberg machine.A Rube Goldberg machine is a simple task done in a very complicated way. Rube Goldberg was born on July fourth 1883 and had 6 other siblings, 3 of which died. As a teen Rube loved to draw. He got a job working for the sewers, but resigned six months later. In his life Rube made an estimated 50,000 comics. Rube Goldberg did a lot in his life. By Ryan Scratch For Genius Hour I made a game on Scratch. There are 2 red men and 1 ghost. They were held to honor Zeus the god of the gods. Did you know that there was a women's olympics! The women’s olympics however were held to honor Hera the wife of Zeus! I made a game that includes a ghost a rocket, 6 levels and a force field. It also took over 150 coding blocks. I made a book about Ruby Bridges. It had pictures, facts and a story to go with it. I also made a movie about Ruby Bridges on Animoto. I think Ruby Bridges is a very wise person! He was a great painter and he was a very interesting person. He loved to be outside and a lot of his paintings were painted out side too. He was born in 1840 and died in 1926. We learned that the snow hook (on the sled) stops the dog team.We learned that the dogs sleep outside in their dog house and if one dog gets hurt, they sleep inside with the musher. We just had a skype with a musher! His name is Eric and he taught use so much new stuff. He showed us his dogs and everything. He showed us gear and the sled! And he told us he’s ran a few races and he lends dogs to people. He let a girl borrow his dogs who was going to be in the junior iditarod! He told us what it is like to live in Alaska. This was a great skype! By Sophie Today we Skyped with a musher named Eric. He has a lot of dogs. He never raced the real Iditarod but he has raced other snow races. He has 3 sleds. He has very warm and important equipment. I hope we can Skype with another musher soon! By Jake What I Learned about The Iditarod We skyped with Eric from Alaska. He taught us about the Iditarod and how it works! We got to see his dogs. A few dogs were Ghost, Dixie, Batman and Eric ! We also got to see his sleds and his dog booties. The skype was really fun.
